The Link Online #26 (Sat, Dec 22, 2012)
(Sunnybrook vid grab)
This week on the Link Online, #26

if you've been watching TV this past week, you will have seen massive coverage of the killings at the school in the USA. Some experts are saying this massive exposure only serves to inspire other people who have grudges against society to commit similar acts. They say the media should take much greater care in what and how they report such tragedies, and lower the tone, and the amount of coverage.

We also hear of a protest movement across Canada called Idle No More, led by Canada's indigenous people. They are protesting the federal government's position on treaty rights, and a side issue involves new legislation which weakens environmental protection laws

another story looks at revolutionary new brain surgery that is done without scalpels or drills. It used focussed sound beams and has been used successfully to treat people with severe hand and arm tremors

and a discusion of the latest space mission which involves Canadian Chris Hadfield, who is now on the space station and will take over command in a coule of months.

I hope you enjoy this edition, and let me wish you a Merry Christmas..and Happy Holidays
