Berlin has pledged to double its aid to the Horn of Africa, where millions
are suffering from the worst drought in decades. The pledge comes a day

German award ceremony cancelled after outcry over prize for Putin

The board governing Germany's Quadriga Prize has given in to public
criticism and decided not to honor Russian Prime Minister Putin. The entire

Convicted Nazi camp guard Demjanjuk could face further charges

John Demjanjuk, who was convicted earlier this year for his role in killing
28,000 Jews in the Sobibor Nazi death camp, may be prosecuted in Germany
again for similar crimes at another camp.
