Mohamed bin Hammam is regarded as the third most powerful man in world
football after FIFA president Joseph S. Blatter and UEFA president Michel
Platini. He is the only challenger to Blatter in the vote on June 1.

Thai opposition 'Red Shirts' rally on anniversary of crackdown

Thousands took to the streets of Bangkok on Thursday to commemorate those
who died when clashes broke out last year between protesters and the Thai
army. Tension is high as the country gears up for elections in July.

Afghan protests against NATO troops continue

Protests against foreign troops in Afghanistan continued for a second day
on Thursday. On Wednesday, 12 people died and dozens were wounded when
violent protests in the northern province of Takhar broke out.
