EU imposes sanctions on Libya

The European Union has agreed on a raft of sanctions against Moammar
Gadhafi as international pressure increased on the Libyan leader to step

British guard gets life for killing colleagues in Iraq

An Iraqi court has sentenced a British security guard to life in prison for
the 2009 shooting death of two colleagues. The guard claimed he was acting
in self-defense.

Iraqi 'wrath' hits the streets of Baghdad

At least 19 people were killed and hundreds arrested after thousands of
Iraqis staged protest marches during last Friday's 'day of wrath.' They

UN calls for coordinated action as nearly 100,000 flee Libya

The UN refugee agency UNHCR has said close to 100,000 people, mainly
foreign migrants, have fled the violence in Libya during the past week.
Meanwhile, the UK has evacuated more oil workers from the troubled country.
