Dear shristees ,

The use of a website should be easier than the completing a puzzle. If you are searching for a product on ciao, we want you to find it without any great effort.

The current keyword is "Web 2.0" and an overview of our new website design suffices to recognize our understanding of this word: the user comes to the fore; he can publish his own content and get easily in contact with other people.

We just need to provide him with a webpage which is easy to handle…

Web 2.0: the refinement of the World Wide Web

People speak nowadays a lot about Web 2.0 but most of them are just wondering what exactly this word means. Mashup? Social interaction? An Intelligent Web in which everyone is involved? We would like to show you today how Web 2.0 Ciao is.

Ciao above all is characterized through the active participation of the users to the content of the page. Whether through reviews, Ciao Lists or Videos, they can generate their own content without any high technical knowledge. In this way, you exchange opinions with other people and also advice them. Through your User profile, you can share personal details with the community by uploading a picture or putting some lines about yourself in the "about me" box. Those who want to give more information can also create a Personal Homepage. As usual in each community, it's also worth it on ciao to have buddies. Our advice: use the guestbook of your buddies.

Web 2.0 means also the cross linking of the whole Web, the connection of different data sources, the creation of interfaces. In this regard, the integration of ciao in the new search engine "Bing" brings your content to more costumers and open you more doors. Besides this, you can also find the Ciao Wall on Facebook, on Twitter or join up our UK MSN.

To conclude, we invite you to have a look at the top cover of your Ciao task bar. With Bing, you can now directly search for images, news or other Web contents.

Web 2.0 is at your feet!

Dear Ciao members,

In our newsletter edition of March 2009, we were explaining you in this column the processing of Premium Funds awarding on ciao.

In today edition, we would like to introduce to you a small improvement about this sector.

We will continue paying a total of 2000 GPB for all premium funds and also keep recompensing the best 10 reviews with a prime of 15 GPB each.  However, from June 2009 on, we will also recompense the 10 best reviews with a length between 500 and 1000 Words with a prime of 7 GPB each.

Our opinion is that there are many short reviews on Ciao, which are excellently written and contain a lot of helpful information for potential buyers. As these reviews would normally not be taken into account for the diamonds because of their briefness, with this new change we will also remunerate them with the appropriate prime.

The respective 10 winners of this new prime will be published on a special Ciao-Page.

We wish you good luck and fun writing reviews

Behind the Scenes »

Dear Ciao Community,

We would like to give you an inside look at how Ciao works and what our staff members do each day to make the site as great as it is. In this new section of the newsletter you will therefore find interviews conducted by our community manager with Ciao employees.

By doing this, we hope to increase the transparency of our operations and give you a better idea of how our company functions. In today's edition, we would like to introduce you to our Head of Sales E-commerce Marco di Noi.

Hello Marco, first of all thank you for the collaboration. Could you explain the Ciao community in some words your job at ciao?

Since 2004, I am leading the Ecommerce department at Ciao.  My team and I are responsible for the acquisition of new merchants, who want to present their products on Ciao. Besides this, we always try to reach new standings in order to bring the community and also the merchants more in the fore. We are in communication with our partners on a daily basis and we try to place them on ciao as good as possible.

Marco, you are part of one the biggest and most important departments at ciao. You receive daily applications for Internships and jobs. What is the special appeal of a job in sales?

Personally, working in sales is for me a dream-job. In This job you can combine your own skills with the necessary know-how. To be successful, you need to be aspiring, hardworking and adaptive but also sociable, professional and open for new ideas. If you decide to work in sales, you should know that you will be away a lot on business and that your hobbies may have to take a back seat.

You have been working at ciao since December 2004. Do you think that the constantly growing notoriety of ciao also helps winning over new clients?

At the beginning, it was not that easy to convince new partners about the advantages of ciao compared to other platforms. However, we succeed in winning new partners who are still satisfied with us and the community. Today, we daily get offers of shops which want to be listed on ciao. Unfortunately, we have to decline the offers sometimes as some shops don't achieve our quality standards and therefore wouldn't be a surplus for the community.

Last Question: you are half Italian, half German and speak perfectly both languages. But which characteristics overbalance? Is it the Italian passion and the affectation for Pasta or the more the German tenacity and the desire for a nice cold beer?

This is an interesting question. Both, the Italian passion and the German tenacity are definitely part of my nature. I admit being a fan of Italian food but first my love is for the German beer.
